Have your heard your horse's got sounds and his heart beat. Now you can as you learn about your horse's viatal signs.

Listening to your horse’s heart beat can give you a pretty good idea of how relaxed, healthy and well conditioned your horse really is.
If his heart beat is approximately 32 beats per minute, then your horse is probably in average condition and his rate is considered normal. If the heart beat is a little slower, the horse may be very relaxed and well condition. If the rate is significant higher, your horse may need a “check up.”
Listening to your horse’s gut sounds…if he is healthy you’ll hear plenty of noises…tells you know normal digestive activity is occurring.

A horse’s normal temperature will range from 99 to 100.5. The temperature may be a bit elevated in the late afternoon.
A horse’s normal respiration rate will be in the 16 beats per minute range.
To establish a “base line” for your horse, take his pulse, temperature and check his respiration in the morning and evening for three days…the average will be your base line for comparison when you think your horse may be feeling “a bit off.”
